Recently the United States government passed a bill abolishing net neutrality in the nation-state. Sucks to be people in the U.S you might think, yes, that is true. I am personally more concerned with the implications in Canada. "We fundamentally believe that all information should be treated equally," Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains said after the new rules came into effect. Right now our government has a stance supporting free internet but that could change. Let's just say that next election a conservative government got voted in. What do you think they would do. Let me give you a hint, they would support a "free" market and abolish net neutrality. The internet is already so important and integrated into our daily lives and it only becomes more important as times moves onward. I think that net neutrality should stay in Canada, and that the rules should be changed in the U.S to force ISPs to abide by net neutrality laws. It is imperative to support net neutrality for our own good.
