Sacramento California, June 21st, 1973. The car rolls out of the lot, engine roaring. “She’s a beauty, ain’t she”. “Sure is, so how much was it again?” “Hundred a day. Take it, or leave it, the choice is yours pal.” I puffed on my cigar. The smoke rolling in front of my face. “I will say, she is quite a beaut.” “Why wouldn’t she be?” The small pudgy man laughed, his belly rising and falling in tune with his laughing. He seemed nice but in this day and age how could you tell who was nice. “A hundred a day ya say?” I dragged on my cigar once more. “I’ll take it,” His eyes lit up, mischievous and daunting more than they were happy and gleeful. “One one condition,” at this point his eyes fell. “You drive it first.” I had seen this trick done to many a poor soul, the brakes taken out or wheels popped, leading to the unsuspecting man driving into the old street fence or something. A good way to make money, not friends. He glanced nervously around.
“O- okay then, heh heh.” The small man climbed into the car and nervously closed the door behind himself. The seatbelt clicked into place and a sigh was heard as he stepped on the gas. He had only gone around the parking lot but sweat was beading down his forehead as he was prepared to stop. Going fast into it the foot slammed on the brakes but to no avail. The car spiraled out of control and right into the fence. I took one long drag from the cigar and blew the smoke out into the summer day. “Figures, happens every time.” As I began to walk away I saw the man crawling from the driver's seat blood everywhere. I tossed the cigar towards the car. The car and the man had blew up. “Oh well, what a shame.” being in this profession often gets me bored. Car explosions just aren’t as thrilling as they used to be. I was about to take out another cigar but I only had cigarettes left “damn, this will have to do” As I went to light the smoke, I seen the same man who blew up, walk over to me. “Hey I want to know how much that beauty over there is. “Ww-what the hell is going on?” he replies with “what are you talking about i want to buy that car right there.” as he points to the on that just blew up, which is now just sitting nicely where it used to be without even a scratch. I was about to say i don't work here but this could be a good chance to make some cash, i took a drag off my cigarette, put it out and said “100 a day” he said “Would you mind taking it for spin for me?”
